Mouse - 1950s British Railways Wagon Label - Meadow Hall (Sheffield)
An original unique painting of a mouse using watercolours, inks, gouache and fine pen line work on vintage railway ephemera mounted between two sheets of glass.
This is a British Railways wagon label c1940 referencing Meadow Hall (Sheffield) and Brown Baileys (which was a steelworks on the site now occupied by the Don Valley stadium). The mouse is hand painted in watercolours and gouache over a pen and pencil sketch. The painting is framed between 2 pieces of cut glass and finished with copper foil and 60% lead 40% tin solder. Copper rings have been added and British made copper ribbon included for hanging.
This painting would make a lovely gift and is perfect for a collector.
